I think my love of healthy food comes from my mum who made pretty much everything from scratch when we were young. I don't know where she found the time alongside studying, working and bringing up two kids (particularly after the divorce from my dad). I think the motivation was handed down from my grandmother who managed to do the same only with seven kids! However, at the time, all I wanted was packaged food, coca cola and chocolate, all the things I couldn't have. The grass always seemed greener.

But of course it isn't and as I grew older, I realised how lucky I was to have been brought up on beautiful fresh food - for the majority of the time anyway.
There are many reasons behind my move from marketing/PR into health and nutrition. Perhaps the biggest was a serious illness which hospitalised me in 2003 and 2005. I had spent too many years being unkind to my body and it was a massive wake up call in terms of diet and lifestyle.
By 2008, I had qualified as a nutritionist but the nutrition diploma posed more questions than it answered. I wanted to understand the science behind the assertions. So I embarked on a 4-5 year long science degree at the University of Sydney majoring in nutrition and dietetics. I wasn't quite prepared for how scientific it actually is but it's an amazing experience and will hopefully lead to a job within one of Sydney's brilliant hospitals (honestly, compared to London, Sydney hospitals are outstanding).
I initially started the blog as a source of recipes for clients. However it also serves as a library for my personal recipes and to give you insight into nutritional science and why eating the right foods is so important.
