In between posting recipes, I have started recording an evening meal food diary. I know a record of what I eat in the day would be more helpful than just the evenings, but its way too time consuming. I can tell you now that breakfast tends to be the same every day. Homemade organic toasted muesli, soy milk, natural yoghurt and fruit - depending what's in season (figs wherever possible in the late summer months). Lunch varies from sandwiches to salads to soup. Sometimes I eat well in the day, sometimes I succumb to snacks like muffins or banana bread and coffee. But I'm not going to stress too much over that.
I really look forward to the evening meal. Its actually the best meal to skip or reduce in size if you want to lose weight. However, this meal is too important to me and I will spend (a lot of) time in the day thinking about what I'm going to cook that night. I try to eat a good source of protein and veg and go easy on the carbs and grains. Here is my evening meal diary for 1 - 7 March 2010:
Monday – Homemade asian broth with chicken, vermicelli noodles, broccoli, bok choy and mushrooms
Tuesday – white fish and cannellini bean tomato stew with spinach
Wednesday – poached salmon with steamed broccoli and bok choy - lime and red onion sauce
Thursday – late home from meeting
Friday –wedding at Le Kiosk in Manly – duck pate - fish with veg - cake…… and alcohol
Saturday – Barramundi on tomato and borlotti bean sauce topped with leeks and olives followed by sugar plum crumble with natural yoghurt
Sunday – barbequed leg of lamb, smoky aubergine puree and green beans followed by more sugar plum crumble
All organic where possible - organic fruit, veg and eggs from www.bondiorganicbox.com, organic meat from supermarket. Let me know if you want recipes for any of the above.
